Making The Soundtrack to Ones Life

Musical Bio
Self-taught composer and performer working in the fields of musical theatre and songwriting, with a focus on atmosphere, sound design and lyrical imagery. Active in interdisciplinary, cultural, and performative contexts.Current ProjectCreating the Soundtrack to Somebody's Life: Liminality and Emotion in MusicAs part of developing my practice as a composer and musician working in theatre and sound design, I am exploring the concept of liminality. In a musical sense, something “liminal” carries both nostalgic and otherworldly qualities. In design and visual arts, it relates to the idea of a “non-space” — something that does not physically exist yet still exists in our minds. In this research trajectory, I want to experiment with creating 'liminal' music by combining tools I already use with new equipment, methods, and an intensive research process. This includes studying works and methodologies from other artists, alongside experimenting with effect pedals, loopers, and new ways of creating texture, tone, and sound through my guitar rig. The planned outcomes are sketches, potential new works, and a research evaluation reflecting the development of my practice and my understanding of liminality in my own music.
